What Is A Baby nurse?

A Baby nurse also known as a Newborn or Infant Specialist, works in homes with parents to teach, guide and assist in the first few months of bringing home your baby. She can help with routines, feeding and sleep schedules, answering questions about Nutrition, Lactation and Breast Feeding and she uses her knowledge and experience to educate on day to day questions and concerns that most new parents may have. An experienced Baby nurse will leave the parents at the end of her stay, capable, comfortable and confident in caring for their infant.

How long does A Baby nurse stay?

A Baby nurse generally works from an 8 hour shift to living-in 24 hours, and can stay from weeks to months depending on the family and their needs.

What are the responsibilities of a Baby nurse?

  • anything baby related
  • baby's laundry
  • breast feeding support
  • bottle feedings (formula or breast milk)
  • nighttime feedings
  • bottle preparation and sterilization
  • keeping the nursery clean and tidy
  • organizing babies supplies and toys
  • assisting the mother during her recovery
  • setting routines for feeding and sleep scheduling
  • keeping the changing table stocked

Multiples Baby nursing

A Baby nurse can work with a singleton or can exclusively work with multiples.

Is a Baby nurse a Registered Nurse (RN)

A Baby nurse is NOT a Registered Nurse! A Baby nurse comes with experience, skills and love to help and educate parents in gaining confidence in caring for their baby or babies.
